trip to the moon(s)
ha....i simply say that because my family in virgina have the last name of moon. last week i returned from a week~long trip to visit them for my cousin's graduation. we had a great time ~ my mom was there too. we helped my aunt karen get food ready for the big bbq which was a huge success ~ lots of yummy food! when am i going to learn from jerolyn to photograph the food also?? :) my aunt & uncle along with my cousin brent, drove from north dakota they spent the weekend there before heading to north carolina to see my cousin annie. she & her family drove from their place in north carolina too for the graduation. so it was a lot of fun to travel to virginia & get to see so many familiar faces!
all of us went to see the jamestown settlement & then went to colonial williamsburg on sunday. then on monday & tuesday, karen brought mom & me to a few plantations. but of course, the best part was being with family that we don't get to see very often!

flashback friday...matching game
so here i am with girlfriends at my first prom. the theme was "lost in your eyes" by debbie gibson.....more like "lost in the glare". the dresses are a bit shiny, no? i remember going shopping with my mom & my friend teresa & her mom. i really wanted the dress i'm wearing, but i think teresa was eyeing it too. somehow i got lucky (at the time i thought so anyway) & was able to snag the dress for myself.
below this picture is my 1st grade picture (again) because there are 4 of us in the prom picture that are in my 1st grade picture...let's see how good you are at figuring this out! :)

all decked out!
somehow our darling little girl has turned into a diva when it's time to leave the house.
"i need my purse!"
"i need my sunglasses!"
"no, not that one, my princess ones!"
you think that's bad? you should hear what happens if we're already on the road somewhere & she realizes she doesn't have her items along.
serenity now!

flashback friday ~ the graduate
this week i am in virginia for my cousin kean's h.s. graduation. i remember him as a one-year old coming to my graduation so it's only fair that i go to his. :)
here's the flashback part:
this is when kean was a little tyke of 2. he was a cutie pie!
as if i haven't aged myself in this post already, here's some more...
when kean was about 6 years old, he came to n.d. for part of the summer to stay with my grandma. i was lucky enough to get to have him for 3-4 days during that summer. he & i were driving to my parent's place, & on the drive, i see kean doing something out of the corner of my eye. i glance over at him & see that he's got the insert from the michael jackson "bad" cassette & he's copying mj's moves.
wonder if he'll do them for me again...

fun at the park
when you were a kid, what would you rather do? run around at the park...
OR
splash in the water?
or maybe you had a different activity that was your favorite when you were growing up? i had a lot of fun as a kid growing up in a tiny town. during the summer we were outside for the most part. my mom would just open the door & call for my brother & me to come home. we could hear her even if we were on the other side of town, just a short 3 blocks away. :) kids got together to play, no matter the age. you played with who was available so you could maybe have a full team to play basketball, baseball, etc. but my favorite game growing up was kickball!
now it's your turn to tell me what your favorite activity was during the summer...
